We had our August 2012 Southern California LightSwitch User group meeting in Irvine, CA.

Beth Massi called in via Live Meeting and brought us all up to speed with the latest in the LightSwitch world:

  • LightSwitch in Visual Studio 2012 is complete will be released inside Visual Studio later this month
  • The HTML Client will be released as a add-on to LightSwitch when it is complete (expect another beta version that you can install normally, it wont be a .VHD)
  • Joe Binder (the LightSwitch HTML project manager) has been on vacation so that is why we haven't seen him as much in the forums.

Beth took questions from the members about creating UI layouts (she suggested that you use more grouping when needed).

After Beth’s call ended we launched into the regular meeting where we demonstrated the LightSwitch applications we all are working on. Three new members had not seen the LightSwitch HTML client so I demonstrated that.

The next meeting is Wednesday September 19th 2012 in Irvine, CA. Join SoCal LightSwitch User Group and then email “webmaster at adefwebserver.com” to get the exact address.

Thanks Michael,

Did I read right? The HTML Client will be released as a add-on later, after the Visual Studio 2012 RTM is released?

@Paul Patterson - Yes :) It appears Visual Studio is designed to allow this for a number of reasons. For example, Azure keeps releasing updates and they simply update your Visual Studio.

Michael,
Do you have a list of other regional LightSwitch user groups? I'd love to get involved with one near Northern Virginia.

@Brian Norberg - At this time we are the only one I know of. If you form one please let us know!
